Hello & Welcome

Welcome to Just Play & Live Life. (^-^)/

I am イージン, the author of this blog.

Disclaimer: This blog is just my haven for recording my memories (of travels and life happenings), occasional rampant about life, gaming achievements, and pretty much everything else. It is, in no way, meant to be used against anyone, nor for monetization.

For ease of access to my travel memories, the trips are pinned in chronological travel order.

MaplestorySEA - Level 200 Zen, 等々(etc)...

Tera Burning Character - ZEN

So we get to Tera Burn a character which levels 1+2 (in other words, 3 levels per level) from 10 all the way to 199~! What better time to level a character that you don't really like playing (but yet worth doing) than NOW.

I've always had a somewhat-hate relationship with ZEN, but hey... hello level 200 ZEN.
*still self-applauding my determination to get it from 175 to 200 in half a day*
(special thanks to UnKn0wN for supporting)

*** Life Updates ***

3-13 November: Japan Trip (Upcoming Travel Log!!!)
15 - 26 November: Covering duties at work
25 Nov - 1 Dec: Studying for JLPT N4
2 December: JLPT N4 Examination

That was pretty much what I had been busy with all of last month. Can't wait to start on my Travel Log posts for Japan~! 😘

Travel Log - The Canopi @ Bintan, Indonesia

22-23 September 2018
My 2D1N stay @ The Canopi, Bintan with my Family & Colleagues.
(Company Event/D&D)

The Treasure Bay, Bintan was a short 5 mins bus ride from the Ferry Terminal.
(Note: The Canopi's main reception entrance was under renovation so we entered the resort through The Treasure Bay).

My Fish & Chip Lunch that took FOREVER to arrive @ Warna Warni Restaurant
I was really quite bumped about lunch - dishes took more than an hour to be served, the waiters (a good 6-7 of them, or more) were all standing around, avoiding eye contact. Everything was just... incredibly slow. From arrival at the restaurant (approx~12:45 JKT time) to check-in time (15:00 JKT time), the whole duration was spent at the restaurant (and that's excluding the time taken to pay the bill).

BUT, with that said, I'll give them the benefit of doubt - that they were probably not prepared to face a large crowd of diners (we did take up approx 90% of the seats in the restaurant).

Lagoon-view Tent! (We drew lots on the types of Tents prior to the trip)

The interior of the Tent:

^ Sofa turned into beds as I had 4 to a tent

The man-made lagoon that's picture-perfect:

Our dinner set-up

Our Recreation Club Committee bought fireworks... 😆 -things to do outside of SG-

International Breakfast (the next morning):

The Treasure Bay, Bintan Entrance
You could rent this scooters (for a fee) to ride around the resort area...
Post-thoughts:
It was my 1st time in Indonesia (despite it being just that small resort part of it)... The fireworks during dinner was really the highlight for me (hearsay: it was cheaper than hiring a live entertainment band 😆)
Would I come again? - perhaps a couple of years later (with friends, LOL)

BBQ BOX (Bugis Outlet)

Just a couple of weeks ago, I was introduced to 刘大妈烧烤吧 (Liu Da Ma Charcoal BBQ) which is located at Geylang Lor 11

I swear, that ignited all my memories from Sanya, Hainan. My 5 months in Sanya, taught me about that legendary 炒粉 (I still have days that I crave for it so much, but sadly, unable to satisfy - p.s. I dont rly want to go back there, hence..) & 串烧.

Since that other day, I've been craving for it. 刘大妈烧烤吧 is, in my opinion, better for groups. If you want 80 cents lamb skewers, then that is the place to go. For me, though, I found the place to be a little ulu (?) and I'm not that comfortable heading there (a.k.a the stigma of Geylang) on my own for skewers. SO...

This is my take on another 串烧 place called BBQ BOX, located at Bugis (the steamboat/bbq street opposite Bugis Junction)! [They have other outlets around as well... in Chinatown & Geylang (?)]

Skewers are all cooked before being brought to the table and the box served as a warmer to the skewers (there's a lighted candle in the box). One thing though, not all skewers came out hot (I mean, you would expect them to be piping hot for a bbq place, right?).

Just look at the seasoned potato slices... 😇
For some, the seasoning might be on the salty side but... its completely acceptable. It's just like how some would always eat maggi noodles and drink the soup knowing that its high in msg and stuff like that. Its a guilty pleasure (for me, at least).

[Since every skewer is seasoned with the same type of seasoning, this is also a place where you either like the taste... or you don't. I don't think there's an in-between 😂😅]

I'm such a potato person, so it pleases me to know that each serving of potato slices comes in 3 skewers (so that is like 9 slices per serving). Tofu slices were great, they too, come in 3 skewers per serving.

The toast bread was a recommendation from a blog that I read before heading there, its definitely savory, but it wasn't like a must-order for me. Perhaps, I'm just not that much of a bread person.

Chicken wings were GREAT. I ordered a skewer of the cajun-flavoured ones, they were so easy to eat with chopsticks.

The one thing I didn't like at BBQ Box is their Sour Plum Drink. I'll go for herbal tea next time. 😎

p.s. drink loads of water, it gets quite thirsty after, but so worth it if you appreciate the seasoning.

Address of BBQ Box (Bugis): 21 Tan Quee Lan St, #01-03, Singapore 188108

MaplestorySEA - Flag Race

I have so many pictures that I shoved aside in my to-be-blogged folder.
最近は忙しいかな? (-w-)。

FLAG RACE~! Since they removed the "G" & "H" guild member teleport skills from their recent patch, it seems easier for solo flag racers to get on the chart? 😂 *joy*

Miscellaneous updates: I've skipped dailies for so many days... :'( getting lazier.
Guild mates are... pretty much inactive/on hiatus. 😭 Is this the start... of the end?
やっぱり、みんなゲームを辞めた。残念だったね。
ここから、私一人でゲームしようかな。。。

Samsung Galaxy S9 - Unboxing

After making three trips to M1 stores over the span of a couple of months, I've finally gotten my hands on a new handset 😎. [Price: SGD $598 on Lite+ plan with M1..]

✮ Samsung Galaxy S9 ✮

Unboxing the Galaxy S9
Included in the box with the handset:
➹Quick Start Guide / Content Transfer Guide (in English & Mandarin)
➹S9 | S9+ Privilege Brochure
➹Charger & Cable
➹USB Connector
➹Earpiece & ear buds in different sizes
➹Transparent soft casing
➹Pin (to release the tray for the sim card/sd card)

S9 in Coral Blue
The last time I used a Galaxy S-series was the S4 which lasted for approx. 3 years before it crashed and died. (I was hoping that it would last over two contract terms so I didn't have to use the A5 (perhaps earn some quick bucks with it) but that didn't happen. 😢) well #life.

First impressions on the S9:
❃ Expandable storage space - the device itself comes with 64GB internal storage but there's a slot for an external micro SD card (for up to 400 GB, according to their official site). I was originally worried that they might start in-building everything to the point that they remove the micro SD card slot as well, but thankfully... they still retained this functionality.

❃ Nano-sim

❃ USB-Type C - this is a different cable from the ones given for the older Samsung devices... Kinda sad about this. Being a house of Samsung users, new phones meant extra chargers and cables to share.. considering I'm also using their Samsung Camera, I'll have to bring a separate cable for it once I start using the S9. Gotta get a new cable to connect to the portable charger as well.. 😕

❃ In-built battery

I'm quite excited to try out their camera (especially in low light) to see if it lives up to expectations. After all, Samsung seems to be well known for their camera features.. \(^w^)/

But before that, I need to go grab some cables first and sort out my current handset's media... :')
Till then~

MaplestorySEA - Dream Breaker Stage 70

On a roll today... 😎 20 floors up in Dream Breaker! *achievement unlocked*

MaplestorySEA - Kiineziz solos H.Magnus

Among all the bosses in Maple... I really hated Magnus. Maybe I haven't seen worst... but he was definitely the one boss that I cursed at the most (during boss fights). *those were the days...*

It was so bad that, to me, even solo-ing Magnus (normal mode) was something to be proud of (link: my 2017 nmag post). 😅

A year on, after funding Kiineziz, along with the "Maple in the Universe" timed event title and "Pink Bean is My Friend" timed event medal, looks like I'm finally able to solo h.mag. 😍
[Disclaimer: I do not encourage spending on games..]

p.s. and solos CRA while I'm at it... 🙌

MaplestorySEA - updates

Its been a while... 😅 #life

There was so much that I wanted to blog about but I haven't found time to do so such as my post-trip thoughts on Korea, my Korea beauty loots, new Idle Poring achievements, new apps that I was trying out. (p.s.*luggage still sitting in my room* ↤ high chance that it'll continue sitting there till my next trip.)

Since my Korea trip, I've been living my life being a mapletard... even more so since 26th July (Maplestory M launched on July 25th, but I couldn't get into the server till the next day, so...😅)

Mapleverse Patch - Maple Achievements

I'm finally all done with the two seasons of Mapleverse! I just got my 'Little Maple Planet Chair' that I had patiently waited 13 days for... (season 2 completion award)~!😅

*its actually an animated chair...*

This patch was pretty good with new minigames that I haven't seen in-game before (loved the maplecart/rail minigame..). I actually took a video of it but I need to curate that to fit the file size restrictions here. 😎

p.s. *been facing problems with my Nvidia ShadowPlay... T^T gotta fix that before I can do my Esfera prequest as well..*

Travel Log - South Korea Day 8

Click here to read from the 1st post of this travel log! 😄

Day 8: Last minute shopping & Home-bound
14 June 2018, Thursday

All packed and checked-out... we headed to Lotte's Departmental store for lunch (we were actually there for breakfast as well, but we went back to the hotel to do the necessary admin and baggage arrangement - since our flight was at 11.20 pm - before heading back again to look for le dad).

Kimbap~ wonder if it was just me, but I didn't actually see many places selling these. 😞

Lotte's Departmental store is pretty much like our Takashimaya... went to the duty free levels & they actually asked us to apply for a VIP card so we get some % discount off the bill (I think it was 10%).

The skincare/makeup section were, if not all, priced in USD.

Sis & I made a quick detour to Seoul Station to grab these babies from Dunkin Donuts... (all these bottled drinks with collectible lego heads 😍 we actually bought a total of 14 of these bottles. LOL)

We were pretty much lazing around, waiting for our pick-up driver to the airport (just sitting at our hotel's lobby and waiting for time to pass 😅)

Dinner @ Incheon Airport

& with these two mascots seeing us off... 😍
