Samsung Galaxy S9 - Unboxing

After making three trips to M1 stores over the span of a couple of months, I've finally gotten my hands on a new handset 😎. [Price: SGD $598 on Lite+ plan with M1..]

✮ Samsung Galaxy S9 ✮

Unboxing the Galaxy S9
Included in the box with the handset:
➹Quick Start Guide / Content Transfer Guide (in English & Mandarin)
➹S9 | S9+ Privilege Brochure
➹Charger & Cable
➹USB Connector
➹Earpiece & ear buds in different sizes
➹Transparent soft casing
➹Pin (to release the tray for the sim card/sd card)

S9 in Coral Blue
The last time I used a Galaxy S-series was the S4 which lasted for approx. 3 years before it crashed and died. (I was hoping that it would last over two contract terms so I didn't have to use the A5 (perhaps earn some quick bucks with it) but that didn't happen. 😒) well #life.

First impressions on the S9:
❃ Expandable storage space - the device itself comes with 64GB internal storage but there's a slot for an external micro SD card (for up to 400 GB, according to their official site). I was originally worried that they might start in-building everything to the point that they remove the micro SD card slot as well, but thankfully... they still retained this functionality.

❃ Nano-sim

❃ USB-Type C - this is a different cable from the ones given for the older Samsung devices... Kinda sad about this. Being a house of Samsung users, new phones meant extra chargers and cables to share.. considering I'm also using their Samsung Camera, I'll have to bring a separate cable for it once I start using the S9. Gotta get a new cable to connect to the portable charger as well.. πŸ˜•

❃ In-built battery

I'm quite excited to try out their camera (especially in low light) to see if it lives up to expectations. After all, Samsung seems to be well known for their camera features.. \(^w^)/

But before that, I need to go grab some cables first and sort out my current handset's media... :')
Till then~

MaplestorySEA - Dream Breaker Stage 70

On a roll today... 😎 20 floors up in Dream Breaker! *achievement unlocked*

MaplestorySEA - Kiineziz solos H.Magnus

Among all the bosses in Maple... I really hated Magnus. Maybe I haven't seen worst... but he was definitely the one boss that I cursed at the most (during boss fights). *those were the days...*

It was so bad that, to me, even solo-ing Magnus (normal mode) was something to be proud of (link: my 2017 nmag post). πŸ˜…

A year on, after funding Kiineziz, along with the "Maple in the Universe" timed event title and "Pink Bean is My Friend" timed event medal, looks like I'm finally able to solo h.mag. 😍
[Disclaimer: I do not encourage spending on games..]

p.s. and solos CRA while I'm at it... πŸ™Œ

MaplestorySEA - updates

Its been a while... πŸ˜… #life

There was so much that I wanted to blog about but I haven't found time to do so such as my post-trip thoughts on Korea, my Korea beauty loots, new Idle Poring achievements, new apps that I was trying out. (p.s.*luggage still sitting in my room* ↤ high chance that it'll continue sitting there till my next trip.)

Since my Korea trip, I've been living my life being a mapletard... even more so since 26th July (Maplestory M launched on July 25th, but I couldn't get into the server till the next day, so...πŸ˜…)

Mapleverse Patch - Maple Achievements

I'm finally all done with the two seasons of Mapleverse! I just got my 'Little Maple Planet Chair' that I had patiently waited 13 days for... (season 2 completion award)~!πŸ˜…

*its actually an animated chair...*

This patch was pretty good with new minigames that I haven't seen in-game before (loved the maplecart/rail minigame..). I actually took a video of it but I need to curate that to fit the file size restrictions here. 😎

p.s. *been facing problems with my Nvidia ShadowPlay... T^T gotta fix that before I can do my Esfera prequest as well..*

Day 8: Last minute shopping & Home-bound
14 June 2018, Thursday

All packed and checked-out... we headed to Lotte's Departmental store for lunch (we were actually there for breakfast as well, but we went back to the hotel to do the necessary admin and baggage arrangement - since our flight was at 11.20 pm - before heading back again to look for le dad).

Kimbap~ wonder if it was just me, but I didn't actually see many places selling these. 😞

Lotte's Departmental store is pretty much like our Takashimaya... went to the duty free levels & they actually asked us to apply for a VIP card so we get some % discount off the bill (I think it was 10%).

The skincare/makeup section were, if not all, priced in USD.

Sis & I made a quick detour to Seoul Station to grab these babies from Dunkin Donuts... (all these bottled drinks with collectible lego heads 😍 we actually bought a total of 14 of these bottles. LOL)

We were pretty much lazing around, waiting for our pick-up driver to the airport (just sitting at our hotel's lobby and waiting for time to pass πŸ˜…).

Dinner @ Incheon Airport

& with these two mascots seeing us off... 😍

Day 7: Shopping Day II
13 June 2018, Wednesday

Our last full day in Seoul, & it was finally time to fill that half-filled luggage of mine that I brought for the trip (brought just shorts & a handful of t-shirts πŸ˜†).

Le dad decided we should go Dongdaemun and check out whats there (instead of the more known Namdaemun)..

Walked out of the metro's entrance and it just felt like we were completely... at the wrong place (to do shopping). The street was filled with people pushing their carts around loading fabrics and textile goods. πŸ˜… Within minutes, we found ourselves walking back to the station and leaving for Ewha's University instead.

Lunch @ Ewha's University food street...
Mummy finally got what she had been wanting to try... Jjajangmeyon.

While the parents parked themselves at the cafe, sis & I started our hour-long shopping. There's like 3 main streets, one for food, one for apparels and one for skincare/makeup. I picked up a couple of items and we actually found the same pants we saw at Hongdae the previous day... which was great because we had originally intended to go back to Hongdae for it (but since we found it at Ewha's University, we didn't have to make the trip back there 😎).

Its definitely a place I would head back to if I ever find myself in Korea again. One-stop shopping~

The damage done... over the days
Dinner @ BHC Chicken Myeongdong
Map (Nearest metro: Euljiro 1-ga exit 5)

Prior to my trip, my colleagues had raved to me about this chicken place that I must go to if I were in Myeongdong... BHC Chicken endorsed by actress Jun Ji-Hyun (acted in "my love from another star").
Pro Tip #1: don't order too much...

With an order of a plate of boneless sprinkle chicken & sweet garlic soy sauce chicken, fish cake soup, fries & 2 cokes, it was simply too much for four. LOL. I have no idea what made us feel like we could actually finish that.

The boneless sprinkle chicken was one of the more uniquely seasoned flavour... It was definitely not something I have seen in SG, though it would be great if we didn't over-order as it gets a little overpowering (imo) after each piece.

He's everywhere 😍

Day 6: A Cultural Day
12 June 2018, Tuesday

For a first time in Korea... Palace visits are literally mandatory (though that is probably just me πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚).
There are five palaces in Seoul but we decided to just pick one of them to go to (since... parents) and that is none other than the UNESCO recognised, Changdeokgung Palace.

While making our way to Changdeokgung Palace...
Something to do with Hyundai... I think. LOL

Changdeokgung Palace
Map (Nearest Metro: Anguk Station, Exit 3)

Within the compounds of Changdeokgung Palace, there are two other sections which requires an additional admission fee. One of it is the Secret Garden which only operates on guided tours (meaning, advance planning if you want to include this in your palace visit schedule) - the price to get a ticket for the Secret Garden (5,000₩/adult) is actually a tad pricier than the general admission fee (3,000₩/adult).

There was also an inner palace that required an admission fee of 1,000₩/adult to enter.

Bukchon Hanok Village
Map (Nearest Metro: Anguk Station, Exit 1 or 2)

After our self-guided palace tour that took slightly over an hour, we took a lunch break at An Guk Jung... at a food alley within Bukchon Hanok Village area near the metro's exit 2.

While lunching, we met a group of young Singaporeans in their twenties that was seated next to us... It was really cute/funny because my mum was returning a smile to them and I was like "o.o" before they started conversing with us. I guess, Singaporeans does have a unique identity while overseas, it's just so easy to spot a fellow countryman abroad. πŸ˜…

After lunch, the dad parked himself at a cafe while the rest of us tried to find the picturesque spots of the village that was highlighted on their tourist map.

No, this wasn't one of the spots listed, but we made a wrong turn and landed ourselves at Baek In-Je House Museum! 😎 This is probably one of the only kind of museums that interests me.

Look at these details

After the visit to the Baek In-Je's House Museum, the mum decided that she had to find hanboks for her grandchildren with my sis, while I continued in our original quest of finding the scenery spots of the traditional village.

Sadly... I was following people and instead of getting to the scenic spots, I found myself at the shopping street that was way out of the scenic zone. LOL. #thingsnevergoasplanned

Having gone the wrong route and was close to my arranged meeting time with the sister & mum (my dad & I are the only two with the wifi router), I decided to head back to the station. I actually got a little disorientated/lost trying to find the right way out of the shopping street and back to the station (I am pretty bad at reading maps), but thankfully I made it and ended up contacting the sister through traditional SMS so all was good.

I can't remember if we went back to the hotel to rest after an entire day out on a self-guided cultural tour but we headed to Lotte Department Store for dinner~

@ StarAvenue, this picture was for my ex-colleague, she loves Jimin
