Travel Log - Hong Kong Day 2

Click here to read from the 1st post of this travel log! ๐Ÿ˜„

Day 2: Disneyland!

Reliving our childhood with Disney Characters! We got our tickets through Changi Recommends which sold the attraction tickets for SGD 98.00 (the original was HKD 589, which works out to be around SGD 106).

So we grabbed breakfast at a nearby cafe next to our hotel (Metropark Hotel Kowloon) before taking the MTR to Disneyland!

Mong Kok Station --> Lai Hing Station --> Sunny Bay Station--> Disneyland Resort Station

Chicken Chop with Toast & Scambled Egg
I'll let the picture do the talking because... what else is there to say about Disneyland apart from it being awesome? ๐Ÿ˜

THE TRAIN TO DISNEYLAND!!!
Even the handles of the Train is cute

At stimulated timings, there would be mascots around the park for you to take pictures with! Do ask the staff what time you need to be at each mascot station if you do not want to miss the picture opportunities - they usually stop people from queuing after a certain timing.

Lunch at Royal Banquet Hall*
*We got the meal vouchers which costs HKD 235 dollars - includes Lunch, Dinner, Snack (Popcorn/Frozen Lollipop) and a HKD 5 dollars discount on drinks/bottled water.

The Final Parade!

Travel Log - Hong Kong Day 1

The past three months had been pretty depressing (being a *NEET and all), so I wasn't expecting to be travelling this year. Imagine my surprise when my mother actually gave me the green light to travel with friends (special note: this is my first friends trip). ๐Ÿ˜‡

[*NEET - Not in Education, Employment or Training]

Day 1: Singapore -> Hong Kong

We got a Cathay Pacific Flight+Hotel Package deal (find out more here) which cost around SGD 490/Pax for 4D3N in Hong Kong - which is really affordable because its Cathay Pacific ๐Ÿ˜ = 20kg check-in baggage, in-flight meals + entertainment + hotel all covered.

So we took the early morning flight at 06:45 and reached Hong Kong Intl Airport around 10:45.

At HKIA's airport express station, we got our Airport Express Tickets to Kowloon which cost HKD 70/Pax (Group of 3 Price) as well as our Octopus Card (a.k.a Ezlink) at HKD 150/Pax (HKD 50 Card Deposit & HKD 100 Card Value) for easy travel around the city!

Gloomy Hong Kong :x

Free Hotel Shuttle from Kowloon Station
We arrived at Metropark Hotel at around noon (earlier than expected) so, since our rooms weren't available for check-in yet, we left our baggage with the concierge and got started with our itinerary for the day.

The iconic streets of Hong Kong

First stop: Sheung Wan (ไธŠ็’ฐ)

As we had plans to head to Macau on our third day, we decided to head to the ferry terminal at Sheung Wan, which is just next to the MTR station, to get the tickets first (the other ferry terminal is in Kowloon).

As soon as that was settled, we went to take the HK Ding Ding (a.k.a Tramways) from Macau Ferry Terminal (Tram Stop: 78W) to Burrows St (Tram Stop: 54W) to get to our lunch place - Sun Kee Cheese Noodles in Wan Chai.

Unfortunately for us, the store was closed when we were there... ๐Ÿ˜ž so, to calm our raging stomach and disappointment, we decided to head to a restaurant that we passed by earlier while looking for the Sun Kee Cheese Noodles store.

Second Stop: The Peak Tram

After a late lunch, we took the MTR from Wan Chai to Central with the intention to visit Victoria Peak which is known for its amazing view of Hong Kong's city landscape. It was an uphill walk from Central MTR station (J2 exit) to The Peak Tram where you get the tram tickets to get to Victoria Peak [map].

We were put off by the extremely long queue to get the tickets, so we decided against queuing. Instead, we just sat at the neighbouring building to get some rest for our visit to the shopping streets = walking from Jordon to Prince Edward.

Third Stop: Temple St (Jordon MTR) & Ladies Mkt (Mong Kok MTR)
Temple Street Map: Temple St, Mong Kok, Hong Kong
Ladies Market Map: Tung Choi St, Mong Kok, Hong Kong

The shopping streets tend to be more crowded at night.. which sells a variety of items from bags to t-shirts & souvenirs, etc. If you found something that you're interested in, you could put your bargaining skills to use and try to haggle for a cheaper price (subject to store owners' mood and liking, but don't push your luck too far or you might just be cursed at in Cantonese without knowing ๐Ÿ˜†).

Hui Lau Shan (่จฑ็•™ๅฑฑ)
Map263 Shanghai St, Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong

Having walked a distance, we decided to take a break at this Mango Paradise! If you love Mango (like I do)... this is the place to come to. They have many outlets around, so there isn't a need to come to this specific branch, but if you are visiting Temple Street and need a break to rest your legs, this could just be the place for you. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Last Stop: One Dim Sum (ไธ€้ปžๅฟƒ) near Prince Edward MTR
MapHong Kong, Prince Edward, Playing Field Rd, 15่™Ÿ่™Ÿ ่™Ÿ ๅœฐ่ˆ– 1-2 ่™Ÿ Kenwood Mansion

After a long walk through the night shopping streets to Prince Edward MTR Station, we were finally headed to our last stop for the day: DIM SUM!

You can't say that you've visited Hong Kong if you hadn't tried their dim sum!

One Dim Sum had previously attained a one-star Michelin title back in 2012. Despite not being able to retain the title, they are still a popular Dim Sum place frequented by both locals and foreigners!

A yummy way to end the day, though we did have a long walk back to our hotel after that.

Metropark Hotel, Kowloon

Deluxe Room for Three
All amenities provided...
Everything about the hotel was great, EXCEPT, the location. We had to walk about 15 mins to/from the hotel if we wanted to get to the MTR stations (Mong Kok/Yau Ma Tei)- which can be quite disastrous if you're with small children or the elders. Apart from that, it was easy to get to/from the airport since there is a shuttle service between the Airport Express Station (Kowloon) and the Hotel.

Oh Happy Day~ with Park Bo Gum!

18 February 2017 @ The Star Theatre

PARK BO GUM's final stop of his Asia Tour Fan Meeting - Singapore.

I'm so very glad that I had the opportunity to meet this awesome actor in person. Following him since Love in the Moonlight, watching the various Behind The Scenes (BTS), interviews, variety clips, there was really nothing not to love about this person (plus point: he's a 93-liner, massive support right there). After the awesome fan meet yesterday, I re-affirmed those beliefs that he is no doubt a genuine person filled with warmth for everyone. ๐Ÿ’—

The Asia Tour started off with a video collage of him in photoshoots & BTS of Love in the Moonlight which really created the hype. The entire fan meet was designed like a story session with PBG, with 5 chapters to fill the night with fun and games.

Danny Yeo (emcee) and PBG started off the night explaining the concept of the fan meet highlighting the little details which PBG had thought about for his Singapore leg of the tour such as the mini Merlion and Marina Bay Sands that was in the backdrop display as well as the title of the tour Oh Happy Day~ prompting them to sing a little - because its actually the title of a song.

Chapter 1: Happy Bo Gum allowed us to get to know PBG a little better through Fan-submitted questions... some of the questions posted were: what is one thing that you can't leave the house without? to which he answered "wallet, cell phone..." but he mentioned that there are times that he would leave them behind as well, so there really isn't anything that he must be with when he leaves the house. He then added on saying that if there is one thing that he must leave the house with, rather than a physical item, it would be a positive mindset.

Other questions included if he dances at home when there's music and what he does on an airplane besides sleeping. The former prompted Danny to talk about PBG's signature Bombastic Dance Moves and made the spontaneous request for him to dance for us to which PBG led the audience to a quick Bombastic dance tutorial class so we could all dance together with him ๐Ÿ˜†. While on an airplane, besides sleeping, PBG would watch movies (he watched a french movie en route from Seoul to Singapore), read his script and eat.

We also got to see some pictures that PBG prepared from his trip to LA and what he did in Singapore before the Fan Meet - visiting the mini merlion and trying out the G-Max Reverse Bungy. He said that he went twice on the ride and on one of the rides, he had to trigger the release on his own and that it was quite scary.

Following the questions, came the pre-meet selected fan requests. The first request was for PBG to write a message on a piece of paper, fold it into a paper airplane and fly it out like the scene in "Love in the Moonlight EP 1". The lucky fan who requested it had the airplane addressed and flown to her, but being the sweet guy that he is, PBG prepared a few additional ones to fly it to others at random.

The second & third request were for him to play the piano and sing "Happy Birthday Song" and "Don't worry, dear" from Reply 1988 OST.

Chapter 2: Happy Gallery began by featuring the top three best scenes voted by the fans for both "Reply 1988" and "Love in the Moonlight". Of course there were the kissing scenes from both dramas but they conveniently cut it at the peak of the moment (hahaha!). After showing PBG the scenes which the fans had picked, we were shown PBG's personal favourite scene from the two dramas. For "Reply 1988", PBG chose the scene which he was not a part of - the scene where the two brothers were wishing upon the shooting star, hoping the younger brother would be able do what he wants. For "Love in the Moonlight", he picked the scene where Ra-on was bad-mouthing the crown prince in front of Lee Young & Byung Yeon while drinking as he felt that it showed the close friendship they have during filming.

Chapter 3: Happy Romance - this segment had me squeal the most.. because 5 lucky fans got to get up close and personal with him through re-enacting 5 scenes from the dramas (and they all got to keep a polaroid copy of the romantic moment!!!).
One of the scenes... (credits to google images)
The other scenes included "keeping you warm in my jacket (reply 1988)", "touching your face (moonlight)", "feeding you" & "looking into your eyes"... ๐ŸŽ” no. my heart didn't take this well. hahah.

Following that was a mini break playing the VCR of congratulatory messages from PBG celebrity friends (some included Lee Kwang Soo, BTS & Song Joong Ki). After the clip, PBG reappeared in the audience stalls to get close to the fans while singing "Singapura, oh Singapura" which brings us right into Chapter 4: Happy Dinner where Danny introduced PBG to Roti Prata and the two types of Hawker-style Fried Carrot Cake. PBG loved the curry so much, he was dipping the carrot cake into the curry. LOL.

After having some food himself (and feeding the people around him - Danny & the Camera lady), the PBG food preparation show began as he introduced Yubuchobap to the fans by showing us how to make it ourselves. Of course, the food prepared became an on-stage dinner with one lucky fan! ๐Ÿ˜

We then moved into the Special Chapter for the night (which some fans were obviously waiting for): Song Joong Ki. Appearing as a special guest for the third time throughout PBG's Asia tour, we got to witness the brotherhood between the two throughout the games they played.

With the main theme to complete a bingo board, the pair started off with a game of Telepathy where the two were given 10 pairs of words, for each pair, they had to shout out their choice at the same time. For instance, the final pairing was between Flower/Tree, and they both selected flower, prompting Bo Gum to say that the choice had to be flower because they are the bosom brothers.

The other games included a shooting game where Bo Gum had to use a toy bow&arrow while Joong Ki used a toy gun as that was what they used in their respective dramas (Descendants of the Sun & Love in the Moonlight), making a chicken figurine with clay (as it is PBG's year of the rooster) and a Bounce, Spin, Catch Ball game (with 4 lucky fans, 2 on each team).

Fun times sure pass quickly as by the end of the games, it was about time to say farewell to both artistes. PBG ended the night by reading a letter which he had wrote to us fans and sang a short medley of songs! ๐ŸŽ”

We all got to keep a postcard-sized version of the letter from Park Bo Gum. Keepsake!
Thank you, Park Bo Gum, & A big thank you to the organisers who worked hard to make this event a success as well as the fan club for coordinating and providing the items for the fan task/event.

Ending off with a quote from Park Bo Gum, "You only live once,  I hope both you & I continue to keep in mind that every choice we make define our lives and make everyday a happy day" (credits to Arch_Angeli Twitter)

MaplestorySEA - Level 200 Achievement Unlocked

When it comes to my gaming life, there is one game that I have been wanting to write about but never knew where to start - MapleSEA!

MapleSEA, to me, has been a huge part of my childhood (particularly in Secondary School) where it took me an entire month of farming just to reach Lvl 30 - First Job Advancement. Since I had been playing on and off over the years, it has now evolved into a game whereby I could easily reach Lvl 50 in just a few hours...

Nonetheless, reaching Level 200 has always been a seemingly impossible task. Every single time my friend tells me that I would hit lvl 200 soon, I'll always respond with "how about never", or "impossible".

Well, well... who knew that I would really reach level 200 in a span of about 2 months? ๐Ÿ˜
